Regardless of how successful they became, all entrepreneurs had to start somewhere. American life coach and self help author Tony Robbins is one who can definitely tell us all a thing or two about starting somewhere, as he was named in Forbes magazine’s “Celebrity 100 list.” On top of his induction to this list it was estimated that Robbins made about $30 million dollars in 2007 (the same year he was inducted in the celebrity 100 list.) I’m not sure if he made that much of a fortune in the coming years, but whatever the case may be I’m sure he’s happy nonetheless.

Having preached his word at seminars across the country and producing two best-selling titles (Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within) Robbins is what most would call a motivated, self made individual who relentlessly pursued his hopes and dreams and is now reaping the benefits. Sounds pretty admirable, right? Yea I know. And in case you’re considering in following in a guy like his’ footsteps–like I am–here are 10 quotes made famous directly from the mouth of the man himself.

Tony Robbins’ Words of Wisdom

#1) “One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”

Pick something you’re passionate about in life and take it as far as you possibly can. Whether it be a sport, a particular career, or that novel you’ve been working on. Whatever the case is direct all your attention to it and craft your skill in that hobby or trade to perfection.

#2) “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.”

Know your purpose in what you’re doing. If what you’re doing is detrimental to your livelihood–even if you think it may lead down a lucrative path–always consider whether or not that path is best for you.

#3) “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”

Understand your target audience and adjust your communicative techniques so what your saying actually reaches your target audience, rather than just going way over they’re head.

#4) “If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.”

Keep your standards high not only in your personal life, but also in the workplace. Be critical of yourself and others around you and if someones dragging you down or distracting you from your purpose then it may be time to cut your losses.

#5)  “Success is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want.”

Sounds a bit childish, but it’s the honest truth. If you are success you can likely do whatever the hell you want (within legal means, of course).

#6) “Lack of emotion causes lack of progress and lack of motivation.”

Emotions can affect your decision making abilities, but if you use them to enhance your inspiration then it can be the driving force that propels you toward success.

#7) “Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year – and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade.”

Our time is limited, but if you learn how to use it appropriately then you can get more things accomplished then you ever thought possible. Plan your days and use your time wisely!

#8)  “If you believe you are right, or you believe you are wrong, you’re right. Whenever you are certain about it, you will support it. Remember that.”

Going with what your gut instinct tells you to do is often times your best, if not only option. If you feel something is going to work, then do it–regardless of what others around you think.

#9)  “Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.”

Nothing should hinder you or your company. If something is blocking you from achieving something, simply make an effective decision to solve the problem.

#10)  “If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.”

If you want to meet someone’s success then do what they do, but if you want to surpass them, then choose your own unique pathway.
