If You Knew That Planes Have to Avoid Volcanoes, You’d Probably Fly Less

By Richard K. Noots

Yes, you read that title right. Apparently, planes have a huge issue with having to avoid active volcanoes. The reason why is because the volcanic ash can pretty much destroy a plane from the inside-out. While planes are pretty much built to withstand anything, volcanoes are pretty much a plane’s kryptonite (mine too!). Luckily, pilots are very aware of this fact, and almost no planes have been lost due to volcano-related errors. So, you can breath a bit safer, but I’d watch out if I was going near any active volcanoes.

I’m sure you’ll be safe.
