Have you ever reached a point in your life where you tell yourself you don’t know anymore? It was like coming to a realization that you have no clue what’s going on and what’s about to happen. Then, you begin to question the reason for your existence.

I was an adopted child. My biological mother left me in the hospital where I was born. Deeply moved by my situation, one of the nurses decided to keep me and take care of me like her own.

However, my mother’s BF that time didn’t want anything to do with me so he left her.  She didn’t have any relationship again after that. She just dedicated her life looking after me.

A year after I graduated from college, my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She passed away not too long after that. Needless to say, I was totally devastated by the death of the person who cared so much for me all my life.

And then, I met Leah, one of the new hires in our office. From day one, I believed that she was different in a special kind of way. Eventually, we became really good friends and for the first time in my life, I learned to smile from my heart.

When I decided to tell Leah my feelings for her, she accepted me and made me the happiest man ever. But, it didn’t stay long that way.

It turned out that Leah’s pretty face had a mist of darkness right behind it. She had another boyfriend, who just got back from his work abroad and surprisingly, asked for her hand in marriage.

Betrayed by my first love, I felt small and hopeless. I started to question my whole life and my purpose. I closed my eyes in pain until the whole room turned pitch black even light itself could not escape.

As he reached for a broken piece of glass on the floor, I suddenly felt cold. I saw an image of my mother looking at me with a sad face. I just broke down and cried.

The following morning, everything felt different for me. I decided to visit an orphanage to get some perspective and I didn’t get disappointed.

Spending time with those kids and learning about their stories enabled me to see in the dark, warm myself when I’m feeling cold and stand on my own feet without needing someone to lean on.

I realized that I am not ready to love another person until I learned to deal with my own pains and demons.

Timing is everything.

There’s a perfect time for everything; to love, to let go, to rest, to be silent and to heal. It may be different for everyone but there are certain events in our lives wherein certain conditions apply to all.
