Everybody wants to see their business thrive, but unfortunately not everybody with a business is creative enough to saturate their brand into the masses. The toughest point comes in an entrepreneurs life when he finally starts that business he’s been fantasizing about for years, only to witness it get little to no attention from the public.
Speaking from experience, it can be quite a devastating blow to know that you’ve invested countless hours and dollars into something and have yet to receive any kind of return or publicity.
Fortunately, though, there are ways your business can become a hit trend among the masses literally overnight. Sounds to good to be true doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it partially is.
Viral marketing is what I speak of, and it takes a very special mind for someones creative prowess to be recognized over the sea of internet marketers in existence, but as my mother always told me: it doesn’t hurt to try. So if your interesting in becoming cognizant of the different ways in which you can get your company’s name out there, then look no further.

#1) Video Clips
Viral videos are ubiquitous in the sense that they have spread into both mainstream pop culture and corporate America. Once a video goes viral, everybody sees it and every talks about it–for the first few weeks or days, of course. But the chances of your company gaining an avalanche of traffic from the masses are greatly increased by a unique, quirky and entertaining video.
Haven’t you ever seen that South Park episode where all the popular Youtubers gathered on the show? That could be you on T.V. if you strategize something worthy enough for the masses to take a keen interest in.
Of course this is no simple task, as there are billions of different videos floating around of the internet. They key is to touch on a trend that’s either booming in popularity or do something that’s fresh and hasn’t been done. For example the company Go Pro’s video “Fireman saves kitten“. It’s not only daring, but also heart breaking (to kitten lovers) and life affirming.
The video reached success because it effected people, not only cat lovers and daredevils, but also Chinese electronics giant Foxconn which acquired a 9% Stake in GoPro back in 2012 for nearly $200 million. Yea, that’s a lot of money isn’t it?
#2) Flash Games
The reasons flash games can be used is a successful marketing tool is because they’re interactive, fun and can be quite addicting–leaving a lasting impact on the consumer that will inevitably translate to more business. These are also convenient because while many games are flawed and underdeveloped, the ones that do have good potential can be shared across social media sites to anybody and everybody.
So if you think you’re creative enough to produce something that is funny, playable and unique that relates to your business, you may want to kick off that game design career.
#3) Advergames
Speaking of video games, advergames (advertisment games) is something that was specifically created to promote a product or service. With the unbelievable growth of the internet, advergames have become one of the most visited aspects of brand websites–theoretically promoting repeat traffic to websites.
This differs from flash games, because creators of these advergames can lure customers in with offers for elgible prizes that can help them collect customer information. And like flash games, gamers can also invite their friends to participate, igniting the old school word-of-mouth that could eventually lead your game to become a prodigy of viral marketing.
#4) Images
Although not talked about as much as video games and flash games may be, Images predate both and have a tendency to prove their point quickly and efficiently, giving people an entire story to spread after a mere glance. Like the old saying goes: a picture speaks a thousand words, so why not save yourself the trouble and construct an image that both defines your company and gives it a little edge.
A great example of a company who has done this successfully is the “couchsurfing boy” photo that exploded a couple years ago. Of course that’s just one of many, but its an effective example of a simple concept that can garner lots of attention.
Got any amazing ideas in mind to get your business model out to the masses? You probably don’t want to risk your idea being stolen by sharing it with the masses, but I implore you to do so anyway!
