Clyde Tombaugh is an American astronomer who discovered Pluto in 1930. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 90, nearly a decade before the New Horizon’s Spacecraft successfully started its voyage to Pluto. As a tribute, a small portion of his ashes were placed aboard the space probe.

After more than 9 years of journeying in space and 3 billion miles of exploration, NASA’s New Horizons Spacecraft is ready to mark another event in history on July 14, 2015 as it approaches the solar system’s frontier and Pluto’s doorstep. This amazing adventure will definitely be one of the 21st Century’s greatest victories.
